Therapy Intensives
Therapy intensives are extended, goal-driven sessions, typically booked in half-day blocks.
Intensives allow clients to benefit from a large amount of therapy in a concentrated period of time and can be especially effective when using trauma processing therapies.
Are suitable for individuals who:
Have a specific problem area, relationship, or trauma history they would like to address
Want to tackle a lot and do it in a short period of time
Are unsatisfied with the lack of improvement they’ve experienced through other efforts
Prefer a concentrated dose of therapy over weekly sessions
Are experiencing obstacles to moving forward with personal growth, improving relationships or career advancement
Intensives can also be helpful for:
Professionals who would like to enhance their performance (academic, career, or athletic)
Parents who feel frustrated by the same recurring feelings and ways they respond to their kids
People who want to kickstart a change and keep the momentum going
The Process:
Consultation
We begin by having a conversation to evaluate whether therapy intensives are suitable to meet your desired outcomes. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and consider preliminary dates for scheduling.
Assessment
Then we take an in-depth look at the issues you’re facing, what’s contributed to them, and how intensive therapy can get you un-stuck. In order to address the root of the problem, we need a thorough and accurate understanding of what the problem is, why it’s there, and why it hasn’t gone away. This assessment will allow me to choose the most effective strategies, approaches, and protocols for your intensive. Based on your needs and availability, we’ll also discuss the time and specific location for our intensive.
Intensive
We’ll meet for an extended period of time (usually half-day blocks) and engage in intentional, in-depth and uninterrupted therapy. Each intensive is individualized to meet the unique needs of the participant and scheduling is flexible. Participants are also given guidance on “homework” or ways they can enhance or solidify the gains they’ve made after their return home.
Follow-Up
A conversation is set up for 1-2 weeks later for us to touch base, assess your progress and discuss any follow-up questions.
